Self-Cleaning Volute Sludge Thickening and Dewatering System for Efficient Wastewater Treatment

The core of the volute-type sludge dewatering machine consists of multiple fixed rings, moving rings, and a spiral filtration unit. This innovative design integrates filtration, concentration, and pressing technologies into a single cylinder, enabling simultaneous sludge thickening and dewatering. Within the filtration cavity, the relative motion between the fixed and moving rings allows rapid filtrate discharge without clogging. In the dewatering section, the volume of the spiral cavity gradually decreases, increasing internal pressure. Combined with an adjustable back-pressure mechanism, this system replaces traditional filter cloths and centrifugal filtration methods. Its advanced solid-liquid separation and self-cleaning capabilities represent a new era in sludge dewatering technology.

Working Principle

1. Concentration: As the spiral shaft rotates, the multiple fixed and moving rings surrounding it undergo relative motion. Under gravity, water is efficiently filtered out through the gaps between the rings, achieving rapid sludge concentration.

2. Dewatering: The concentrated sludge advances with the rotation of the spiral shaft. Toward the sludge cake outlet, the pitch of the spiral gradually decreases, reducing the gap between the rings and shrinking the volume of the spiral cavity. Under the resistance of the back-pressure plate, internal pressure continuously increases, and the sludge is steadily squeezed. Water is progressively removed, resulting in a filter cake with continuously increasing solids content, thereby achieving continuous sludge dewatering.

3. Self-Cleaning: The rotation of the spiral shaft drives the moving rings, creating continuous motion between the moving and fixed rings. This autonomous cleaning action effectively prevents clogging—a common issue in traditional dewatering systems—ensuring long-term stable operation with minimal maintenance.
