Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is a non-ionic polymeric compound. It is categorized into four grades based on average molecular weight, typically indicated by the K value—each K value corresponds to a specific range of average molecular weight. Essentially, the K value is a characteristic parameter linked to the relative viscosity of PVP aqueous solutions. Given that viscosity is a physical property associated with polymer molecular weight, the K value acts as a reliable indicator of PVP's average molecular weight. In general, higher K values correspond to greater viscosity and stronger adhesive properties. PVP is hygroscopic and readily soluble in water.

PVP holds broad application prospects in the daily chemical industry, particularly in cosmetics, skincare products, hair care products, and cleaning products.
