Steel Grades and Requirements
There are several different grades of steel that are used for

has specific requirements for its chemical composition in order to
meet certain performance standards.
Grade A
This grade of steel requires a maximum carbon content of 0.22%, and
the manganese content must be greater than or equal to 2.5 times
the carbon content. The silicon content must be between 0.10% and
0.35%, and the maximum phosphorous content is 0.04%. The maximum
sulfur content is 0.40%, and there is no requirement for aluminum,
niobium, or vanadium content.
Grade B
Grade B steel has a maximum carbon content of 0.21%, and the
manganese content must be between 0.60% and 1.00%. The silicon
content is the same as in Grade A (between 0.10% and 0.35%), and
the maximum phosphorous content is 0.04%. The maximum sulfur
content is 0.40%, and there is no requirement for aluminum,
niobium, or vanadium content.
Grade D and E
Both Grade D and E steels have a maximum carbon content of 0.21%,
and the manganese content must be between 0.60% and 1.00%. The
silicon content is also between 0.10% and 0.35%, and the maximum
phosphorous content is 0.04%. The main difference between Grade D
and E is in the maximum sulfur content; for Grade D it is 0.04%,
while for Grade E it is 0.04% but with a minimum aluminum content
of 0.015%.
Grade A32, D32, E32 and A36, D36, E36
These grades of steel have a maximum carbon content of 0.18%, and
the manganese content must be between 0.70% and 1.60%. They also
have varying levels of silicon, phosphorous, and sulfur content.
The main difference between A32/D32/E32 and A36/D36/E36 is in the
vanadium content; A36/D36/E36 require a minimum vanadium content of
0.015%, as well as a range of aluminum and niobium content.
