For older Vela units, perform the following steps:

Disassembly

1. Disconnect the power cord, top cover, battery tray, left side panel, and bottom panel.

2. Lay the unit horizontally.

3. Remove the 1-inch mounting nut from the manifold base and remove the sensor from the manifold.

NOTE

Remove the O2 sensor only if complete removal is not required.

Installation

1. Ensure the O-ring is installed on the oxygen sensor.

2. Lay the unit on its side, place the sensor on the manifold, and install the 1-inch mounting nut.

3. Install the bottom panel, left side panel, battery tray, top cover, and power cable.

For newer Vela units (typically 1400 series and above), perform the following steps:

Disassembly

Remove the screws on the EMI shield containing the foam ambient air filter located on the rear lower portion of the Vela and lift the shield and filter together. . Pull the O2 sensor firmly back to remove.

Installation

Install and replace the new O2 filter. Replace the EMI shield with the foam surround air filter and retighten the screws holding it in place.
