D301 is a type of macroporous strongly basic anion exchange resin.
When water carrying anions flows through a resin bed, an ion
exchange process occurs, where the anions in the water are swapped
with the exchangeable anions (typically hydroxide ions, OH⁻) on the
resin. Specifically, the tertiary amine functional groups on the
D301 resin dissociate OH⁻ ions in water, rendering them weakly
basic. These positively charged groups have the ability to attract
and bind with anions present in the solution, facilitating anion
exchange and effectively eliminating anions from the water.
Functionality: Primarily employed for the removal of anionic
contaminants from water, including nitrates, chlorides, sulfates,
and more. Its operational mechanism involves adsorbing anions from
the water while releasing hydroxide ions (OH⁻) in return.
Physical Appearance: This resin typically presents as opaque
spherical particles.
Regeneration Process: With prolonged use, the resin will reach
saturation and require periodic regeneration to restore its
adsorption capabilities. The regeneration process generally entails
rinsing the resin with an alkaline solution (e.g., sodium
hydroxide, NaOH) to dislodge the adsorbed anions, followed by
rinsing to eliminate any residual alkaline solution.
