Screw conveyors are a type of material conveying machinery suitable
for industries such as chemical engineering, grain, and building
materials. They feature a compact structure and small floor space,
and can operate in either horizontal or inclined directions. With
their excellent sealing performance, they can continuously convey
powdery, granular, and small block materials.
Working principle
The structure of the screw conveyor
The screw conveyor is mainly composed of a screw shaft, a material
trough, a drive device, bearings and sealing parts. The spiral
shaft, as the core component, is composed of a rotating shaft and
spiral blades. The shape of the blades is designed as solid type,
belt type, etc. according to the characteristics of the material.
The material troughs are mostly U-shaped or tubular closed
structures, used to accommodate materials and form conveying
channels. The drive unit includes a motor and a reducer, which are
installed at one end or side of the material trough to provide
power. Bearings and seals are used to support the screw shaft and
prevent material overflow.
The working principle of the screw conveyor
The working principle of a screw conveyor is based on the
rotational thrust of the screw blades. When the drive device
rotates the screw shaft, the screw blades exert an axial thrust on
the material. However, due to the friction with the inner wall of
the material trough and its own weight, the material does not
rotate along with the blades but moves along the axial direction of
the material trough from the feeding port to the discharging port
under the action of the thrust, achieving continuous material
transportation. Among them, the rotation direction of the helical
blades determines the conveying direction of the material, and the
conveying path can be changed by adjusting the rotation direction
according to actual needs.

High and stable conveying efficiency: The spiral blades
continuously rotate to push the materials, achieving uniform and

granular and small block materials.
Good sealing performance and less pollution: The closed material
trough design can effectively prevent the overflow of material
dust, reduce environmental pollution, and at the same time avoid
the material getting damp or being affected by external impurities.
Strong adjustable conveying direction: By changing the rotation
direction of the spiral blades, it is easy to achieve forward or
reverse conveying of materials, meeting different process
requirements.
Low maintenance cost: The core components have a simple structure,
and the replacement of vulnerable parts (such as blades and seals)
is convenient. The daily maintenance workload is small, reducing
the operating cost of the equipment.
