DESCRIPTION
This device is designed to have a fast transientresponse and be stable with 10 uF capacitors. Thiscombination provides highperformanceatareasonable cost.
Since the POS device behaves as alow-valueresistor, the dropout voltage is very low(typically230 mV at an output current of 1 A for the TPS76850)and is directly proportional to the output current.Additionally,because the PMOS pass element is avoltage-driven device,the quiescent current is verylow and independent of output loading(typically85 andmu;A over the full range of output current, 0 mA to1 A).These two key specifications yield a significantimprovement in operating life for battery-poweredsystems. This LDO family also features a shutdownmode; applying a TTL high signal to EN(enable)shuts down the regulator,reducing the quiescentcurrent to less than 1 andmu;A at T,= 25anddeg;
