Steel frame buildings use steel columns and steel beams connected
by bolts or welding to form rigid load-bearing frames.The main
components are usually welded or hot-rolled H-beams, and the
purlins and beams are C/ Z-beams.
The roof and walls are insulated with corrugated sheet metal and
glass wool. Portal frame usually adopts variable cross-section
welded H-beams, combined with rigid beam-column connections (single
span) or mixed connections (multiple spans).
The columns can be rigidly or hinged to the foundation.The system
ensures structural strength, stability and thermal efficiency,
while supporting both horizontal and vertical loads through its
rectangular grid configuration.
