Characteristics of screw conveyor.
The screw conveyor is a kind of continuous conveying equipment
without flexible traction, which uses the rotating screw to move
the conveyed material along the fixed casing. It is as if the
unrotatable nut is held and translated along the screw. The force
that keeps the material from rotating with the screw is the gravity
of the material and the friction against the shell.
The advantages of the screw conveyor are: simple structure,
convenient maintenance, small size of the cross section, can enter
and leave materials at any position in the length direction, and
can use the cover of the tight closed housing to achieve a better
sealing effect.
Therefore, screw conveyor is widely used in various industrial
sectors to transport a variety of powdered, granular and small
materials, such as coal ash, cement, sand, coal, cereals and so on;
it is not easy to transport viscous caking materials which are easy
to deteriorate.
Application of Screw Conveyor
U Trough screw conveyor is made up of screw part, bearing part and
driving devices. Screw part is supported by both ends of bearing
and middle bearing and driven by driving devices. When the screw
conveyor operate, handling material will come into the feed chute
by inlet, then do axial movement along the chute under the action
of rotate screw until out of the outlet.
U Trough screw conveyor is bulk material handling equipment, it
provides enclosed transfer while moving materials horizontally or
at an angle,it can deliver materials from one or more inlet points
to one or more discharge points. Screw conveyors can be operated
with the flow of material inclined upward. When space allows, this
is a very economical method of elevating and conveying. As the
angle of inclination increases, the capacity of a given unit
rapidly decreases.
U Trough screw conveyor is widely used in building materials,
metallurgy, chemical industry, machinery, light industry, grain and
food industry. U-type screw conveyor is suitable for conveying
powder Shaped, granular, small bulk materials, such as cement, fly
ash, grain, chemical fertilizer, mineral powder, sand, soda and so
on. U-shaped screw conveyor is not suitable for transporting
materials that are easy to deteriorate, sticky and easy to caking.
The working environment temperature of the conveyor is usually-20
°40 °, the temperature of the conveying material is generally 20
°80 °℃, the U-shaped screw conveyor is suitable for horizontal and
small inclination arrangement, and the inclination angle is not
more than 15 degrees. If the tilt angle is too large, the tubular
screw conveyor should be selected.
