10/350 25kA SPD 1 Phase Power Lightning Protector Application:
• AC surge protector for low-voltage power system.
• BR-25GR series surge protective devices are usually installed in
low voltage main distribution box connected to the incoming end of
the buildings.
• Used in the lightning protection zones concept at boundary
LPZ0B-LPZ1.
• This product is especially suitable for application in the A
grade Lightning Protection in high risk area of lightning strike.
Installation:
• Type 1 or Type 1+2 SPD (Iimp ≥ 12.5 kA) compulsory at the
installation source (main distribution board in secondary
buildings).
• Installations more than 10 m high (apartment buildings, office
buildings, hotels, etc): type 2 SPD recommended for protecting
private areas and floor distributors (communal areas) in addition
to a type 1 or type 1+2 SPDs.
• Installations with numerous private areas (apartment buildings,
office buildings, etc): type 2 SPD where In ≥ 5 kA compulsory at
the source of each private area if the type 1 or type 1+2 SPDs
cannot be installed at the installation source.
SPDs type 1:
The Type 1 SPD is recommended in the specific case of
service-sector and industrial buildings, protected by a lightning
protection system or a meshed cage. It protects electrical
installations against direct lightning strokes. It can discharge
the back-current from lightning spreading from the earth conductor
to the network conductors. Type 1 SPD is characterized by a 10/350
µs current wave.
Appliances require external surge protection devices, as their
built in protections are usually incapable of withstanding extreme
surge events.
The spark gap based type 1 + 2 surge protection device provides a
discharge capacity of 25 kA per path with low residual voltages.
Building surge protection protects electric / electronic systems
and devices from damage caused by excessively high voltages.
