100G fiber optic transceiver has a variety of packaging forms,
including CFP/CFP2/CFP4, CXP and QSFP28. Among these different
forms of 100G encapsulation, QSFP28 optical transceiver is the main
encapsulation way of 100G networks due to its advantages such as
high port density, low power consumption and low cost. At present,
there are four main types of 100G QSFP28 optical modules.
The 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 optical transceiver is generally used with
the LC single mode fiber optic jumper, and the maximum transmission
distance can reach 10km. The 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 fiber optic
transceiver converts 4 channels 25Gbps electric signal to 4
channels LAN WDM optical signals, and then multiplexes it as a
single channel to achieve 100G optical transmission. At the
receiving end, the QSFP28 optical transceiver demultiplexes the
100G optical input to 4 channels LAN WDM optical signals and then
converts it into 4 channels output electrical signal.
The 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 fiber optic transceiver is a parallel 100G
optical module. The QSFP28 full duplex optical transceiver provides
4 independent sending and receiving channels. Each can run 25Gbps
within 100 meters at OM4 MMF, and the overall data rate is 100Gbps.
When the 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 optical transceiver transmits the
signal at the transmitter, the electrical signal is converted to
optical signal through the laser array, and then transmitted
parallel via the ribbon multimode optical fiber. When it reaches
the receiving end, the photodetector array converts the parallel
optical signal to the parallel electrical signal.
QSFP28 PSM4 optical transceiver is a product with high speed and
low power consumption, which is specially used for optical
interconnection in data communication applications. It conforms to
the PSM4 MSA optical interface specification. It is with hot
pluggable QSFP form and built-in digital diagnostic function. There
are 4 independent full duplex channels, and each channel can reach
25.78Gbps data rate.
The transmission rate of QSFP28 CWDM4 fiber optic transceiver is
103.1Gbp, which is mainly used in the fields of computing, high
frequency trade and so on. Its cost is obviously higher than that
of QSFP28 PSM4 optical transceiver. Through coarse wavelength
division multiplexing (CWDM) technology, QSFP28 CWDM4 optical
module multiplexed four wavelengths of 1270nm, 1290nm, 1310nm and
1330nm to transmit on a single mode optical fiber.
