The fiber cleaning we often say refers to the cleaning of optical fibers and fiber optic connectors and fiber adapter, actually. Interface of the optical transceiver also needs to be cleaned.

We know that interface of fiber optic transceiver is usually in contact with optical fiber connectors such as LC, SC, MTP and so on, so the source of its pollution usually comes from the ferrule of these connectors. Although fiber optic connectors are cleaned before they are inserted into the optical module, there may still be a few contaminants such as a few oils that are not thoroughly cleaned. In particular, after the use of some inferior optical fiber connectors, the pollution of the fiber optic transceiver interface will be more serious.

In practical applications, it is necessary to clean the interface only when the transmission performance of the optical transceiver is reduced. Besides, if the connector is cleaned before being inserted into the fiber optic transceiver, it is also advisable to clean the interface of the optical transceiver so as to ensure the normal transmission of the optical signal.

In order to prevent oil pollution from the interface of the fiber optic transceiver, it is necessary to clean the ferrule of the fiber optic connector thoroughly. If the interface of the optical transceiver appears dust and other particulate pollutants, it is best to remove the pollution with the air dust collector.

Fiber optic transceiver is a necessary tool for optical signal transmission, and the polluted optical module may affect its transmission performance and link failure.
