The Split Tray Sorter, commonly referred to as the Bombay Sorter, is a cutting-edge sorting solution developed by RKSORT, specifically designed for the efficient sorting of small to medium-sized items, particularly those that are flat.

This sorter features an elliptical horizontal ring layout, incorporating single or double-row tray configurations. Items to be sorted are placed in the trays and travel along a circular track. Upon reaching the designated position, the two halves of each tray open like doors, allowing the items to drop vertically into a chute or directly into material boxes, completing the sorting process.

Due to its design, which supports simultaneous loading on double-row trays, the Split Tray Sorter can operate at impressive speeds, processing up to 21,600 trays per hour. It is particularly effective for sorting clothing, express letters, printed materials, and other flat or non-fragile items, including those of irregular shapes.

Low-Speed High-Efficiency Sorting

The double-row design of the Split Tray Sorter, with its unique "one cart, two trays" approach, achieves sorting efficiencies that are double those of comparable Cross Belt Sorters. At a ring line speed of just 1.2m/s, it can sort up to 17,280 items per hour, with a dual-side feeding configuration capable of reaching a theoretical maximum of 34,560 items per hour.

High Sorting Accuracy

Equipped with advanced intelligent cameras, the Split Tray Sorter can read codes from any orientation, achieving a reading accuracy of up to 99%. High-tech sensors and PLCs quickly detect items and determine their sorting paths, while the efficient tray handling mechanism ensures rapid and precise product separation, minimizing errors.

High Flexibility

With the elimination of chain drives and wheel turning in its transmission system, the sorter can deploy distributed low-power motors at any point along the circular sorting pathway. This allows for virtually unlimited sorter length and numerous destination paths. Its low-speed operation also makes it suitable for manual feeding without complex multi-level feeding requirements.

Small Footprint

Thanks to its innovative design, the Split Tray Sorter requires no additional multi-level feeding systems for loading. Items can be sorted directly into bags or boxes, optimizing space usage. Its compact structure can be configured around factory columns, occupying minimal overall space.
