The air-swept coal mill feeds the raw materials into the mill through the feeding device, and at the same time introduces hot air for drying. Inside the mill, the raw materials are crushed under the impact and grinding action of the grinding media. The qualified fine powder is then carried away by hot air and enters the cyclone dust collector for separation.

• The transmission forms adopted by the cylinder mill include edge flinging, center transmission, multi-point meshing edge transmission, etc. The drive forms include asynchronous motor + reducer + pinion + large gear and synchronous motor + air clutch + pinion + large gear.
• Generally, a two-end static and dynamic pressure bearing support method is adopted. A fully enclosed self-aligning 1200-line contact 'rocker type' bearing is used. Single sliding shoe, double sliding shoe static and dynamic pressure support methods or full static pressure support can also be used.
• It is equipped with a reliably sealed gear cover and an automatic glycerin spray lubrication device.
• The cylinder is a key component of the mill. Finite element analysis is conducted on it by using a computer to ensure its reliability in use.
• Large and medium-sized grinding mills are equipped with slow-speed drive devices.
